Spain defeats France to reach the EURO 2024 final
In the first semi-final match of Euro 2024, which took place on 9 July at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Spain beat France 2-1 and reached the semi-finals. Even the goal that flew into La Furia Roja’s goal in the 9th minute of the match did not break the winning spirit of Luis de la Fuente’s wards. Therefore, the joy of the Blues was short-lived. On 21 minutes, the young star of the Spanish national team, Lamine Yamal, scored a stunningly beautiful goal against the opponents. The French were so stunned that they almost immediately conceded a second goal. It was scored by midfielder Dani Olmo.
Lamine Yamal, who was not yet 17 years old, became the youngest author of a goal in the history of the European Football Championship.
Didier Deschamps’ side tried to equalise before the half-time whistle, but failed to do so. In the second half, the French made several attacks on the opponents’ goal. But the Spanish national team showed excellent defensive play and excellent ball control. The numbers on the scoreboard did not change until the end of the match.
La Furia Roja celebrates another victory in Euro 2024 and prepares for the most important game of the Eurocup. In the final, Spain will play the winner of the Netherlands-England pairing. The match will take place on 14 July at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.
Spain midfielder Dani Olmo said: «Now we are really close. One step away. We have an incredible team, but we’ve worked hard to achieve all this. And we fully deserve a place in the final. It makes absolutely no difference to me who we play there.»
