Condé Nast Traveler Spain readers have named the best beach in Spain in 2024
According to a survey conducted by travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler Spain, Zarautz Beach, located in the Basque Country, has been named the best beach in Spain in 2024. The publication holds such a vote annually.
Traditionally, it is divided into two stages. In the first, readers choose the best beach in each of the 10 autonomous communities located on the ocean coast, and in the second, the overall winner. In 2024, the top ten, in addition to Zarautz, include:
- Famara (Lanzarote, Canary Islands);
- Cala Saona (Formentera, Balearic Islands);
- Valdevaqueros (Cadiz, Andalusia);
- Praia das Catedrais (Lugo, Galicia);
- Los Locos (Cantabria);
- Calblanque (Murcia);
- Playa de Poo (Asturias);
- Playa Nord (Valencia);
- Cala Fonda (Tarragona, Catalonia).
Zarautz is the largest beach in the Basque Country and one of the longest on the Bay of Biscay. It is more than 1.5 miles long. It is ideal not only for relaxation, but also for surfing and other water sports.
The Zarautz promenade has many viewing platforms with beautiful views. Opposite the beach is the Narros Palace, the summer residence of Queen Isabella II.
