Cortylandia, which has become an integral part of Madrid’s Christmas traditions, will soon start in Madrid. No official date has been set yet, but it is likely to be Thursday, November 28, the day when the Christmas lights will be lit in the capital. The annual festive show, organized by the El Corte Inglés department store chain, will traditionally take place on the facade of the main store on Preciados Street. A large stage has already been set up with huge animated figures that will move to the rhythms of popular Christmas songs and tunes.

Each year Cortylandia is dedicated to a new theme, based mainly on children’s fairy tales and Christmas stories. In 2023, the main characters of the show were Cortigatos, fictional magical creatures who, along with squirrels and birds, decorated the Christmas tree. The centerpiece of Cortylandia 2024 was a large Swiss cuckoo clock surrounded by various forest animals.

The show will run through January 5, 2025, and it is absolutely free to see. The store is located at Callede Preciados, 3. Callao (L3, L5) and Sol (L1, L2, L3) metro stations are nearby, as well as bus stops 001, 1, 2, 3, 46, 74, 75, 146, 147, 148, SE712, N16, N18, N19, N20, N21.
