The Port Cable Car (Telefèric del Port, Aeri del Port, Teleférico del Puerto) is a popular form of public transport in Barcelona, Spain. It passes over the Port Vell area, where the harbor is located, and connects the Montjuic mountain with the Barceloneta area. The Aeri del Port should not be confused with the Montjuic Cable Car in Barcelona, which also has a station on the mountain of the same name, next to the funicular.

Port Vell Aerial Tramway was designed in 1926 by the architect Carles Buigas for the 1929 World’s Fair, which took place in Barcelona. However, there needed to be more funding to complete the project on time, and the attraction opened only in 1931.

During the Civil War of 1936–1939, the cables used to move the telecabins were removed and the towers were turned into observation posts.

The cable car in Barcelona was restored in 1963 but was temporarily closed in 1995 due to the construction of the World Trade Center. This type of transport returned to service again in 2000 after repairs.

The cable car in Barcelona extends from the Miramar station on Montjuic to the San Sebastian Tower in the Barceloneta area, where the beach, harbour, and port are located. There is an intermediate stop between them — the tower of Jaime I, which is closed at the time of publication of this article.

The cable car travels in both directions. At the Miramar station, passengers must climb the stairs to the booths. The San Sebastian Tower has a lift suitable for wheelchairs and strollers.

During the trip, the gondolas offer incredible views of the center of Barcelona, including the Sagrada Familia, the World Trade Center, as well as the active port and the Mediterranean Sea.

The Mediterranean restaurant Torre d’Alta Mar is located in the San Sebastian Tower. Here you can enjoy delicious dishes and magnificent panoramas of the city.

Miramar can also be reached by metro. The Paral·lel station is nearby. From there it is only a 10-minute walk to the cable car. There is no point in using the bus since you still have to walk to get there, and it does not stop close to Teleférico del Puerto.
