Midsummer is the best time to visit lavender fields in Spain. If you have yet to see this purple flower bloom or inhale its exciting aroma, then it’s time to fix that. Lavender plantations are located throughout the country, and their total area exceeds 10,000 hectares. The leader in this area is Castile-La Mancha, which accounts for 50% of total cultivation, followed by Castile y León (20%). Some regions host exciting lavender festivals. But it’s no less interesting to visit farmers’ fields to immerse yourself in the authentic atmosphere of hospitality of the Spanish province.

The most famous lavender fields in Spain are in the village of Brijuega, which has been nicknamed Spanish Provence. For several years now, the Brihuega Lavender Fields Festival has been held here. This holiday takes place in mid-July and attracts thousands of guests. Traditionally, as part of its program, concerts, master classes, food zones, a lavender market, and, of course, photo sessions are organized.

The rest of the time the fields are also open to visitors. You can explore them on your own or as part of a tour, which takes place on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 7:00 and 8:30 p.m.

Brijuega is a small town in the province of Guadalajara, just 100 kilometers from Madrid. This is a great location for a day trip from the Spanish capital. In addition to the endless fields of lavender, you can see other attractions here. For example, the ancient castle in the Old Town, Arabic caves, cathedrals, and a bullring.

Few people still know about the lavender fields of Pezuela de las Torres. Lavender is grown here for its essential oil, which is produced at a local distillery.
Pezuela de las Torres is a small town with a population of about 1,000 people. It is located in Alcarría Madrileña, just 60 km from Madrid. You can get here in less than an hour by car.
On June 22, 2024, the first Aroma de la Alcarria Madrileña festival dedicated to lavender was held here. It was a very beautiful event at sunset on a sunny day. A lovely place to go to enjoy the lavender fields of Spain is the small village of El Romeral with a population of about 600 people. This municipality is part of the province of Toledo and is located 95 kilometers from Madrid.
In El Romeral you can see beautiful lavender plantations, which are a family business, and three generations have worked to ensure their prosperity. Guests are always welcome here. The place of lavender pilgrimage in the Autonomous Community of Castile and Leon is the village of Tiedra, 55 kilometers from Valladolid and 210 kilometers from Madrid. There is a private lavender plantation around the village. In total, in the vicinity of the town, fields with purple flowers occupy more than 600 hectares, and the largest of them is on the road connecting Tiedra with the A-6 highway.
The lavender fields here are open to free self-guided visits. So be respectful of other people’s work — don’t go too far to take a photo, and don’t pick flowers as a souvenir. You can also go to the lavender fields in Tiedre with a guide or book a tour in an off-road vehicle.
The best photos are taken in the lavender field, which is located next to the astronomical center of Tiedra.
Tourists will find plenty to do here, but a good place to start is the Lavender Interpretation Center and the distillery where essential oils are extracted. They are located at the entrance to the city. There is also a gift shop that sells lavender-made cosmetics, perfumes, craft beer liquor, and much more.
Tiedra is a medieval city. Its main attraction is the late 12th-century castle. In July and August, it is open to visitors every day. There is a museum hall on the ground floor of the tower. It is also worth climbing the narrow spiral staircase to the terrace, which offers panoramic views.
Just 130 kilometers from Zaragoza lies San Felices, the Spanish purple paradise. Here, lavender fields were established in 2007 and became the basis of the family business of Damian Navasques and Virginia Re. Currently, the fragrant plant occupies more than 60 hectares. Tourists are welcomed here during peak times: July and August. Tours are held on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 6:30 p.m. This is the best time to enjoy the scenery.
The farm has a hotel and restaurant. You will be able to have dinner and stay overnight, and continue your journey in the morning. You will also be offered to buy natural lavender cosmetics.
In addition to lavender fields, there are 30 hectares of truffle oak (black truffle) plantations. From December to March, you can also book a tour and order a truffle dinner here.
If you want to see lavender fields near Barcelona, you can do this just 37 kilometers away — in the town of Santa Eulalia de Ronsana. There are farm fields here that belong to Mas Sampera. Their owners are friendly and always ready to open their doors to guests. If you come here with children, the kids will be very happy to see poultry and a real ranch.
Travelers are offered refreshing drinks at the bar and places to relax. There is also a food truck and free parking. For beautiful photos, there are several photoshoot locations.
Visiting the lavender fields at the Mas Sampera farm is free. As a thank you for your hospitality, buy some wonderful souvenirs from their store. They sell organic lavender products, including honey, cosmetics, and more.
Every week during the lavender blooming period, on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 p.m., musical performances are organized here. Lleida is another wonderful place with lavender fields in Spain. The purple flower plantations belong to the family business Aromes de Can Rosselló. Guests here are invited to take a walk and enjoy the magnificent aroma of flowers. You can also take part in gastronomic events by making a reservation in advance.
