Barcelona is preparing for an influx of tourists: they can expect night excursions and new shopping hours

On the eve of summer and the high season, the capital of Catalonia is preparing for an influx of tourists. The Barcelona Night Tour Bus will resume its operations from June 3. It will run along the city’s most beautiful streets every day until September 15, 2024. This entertainment service is provided by Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB). On board the buses, passengers are waited by official guides of the Turisme de Barcelona consortium, who conduct Catalan, Spanish, and English excursions. Free Wi-Fi is also available to guests.

The open-top, double-decker bus will depart at 09:30 p.m. from Plaza Catalunya (stop of the Barcelona Tourist Bus Red Route). The duration of the excursion is about 1 hour 40 minutes. The ticket price for passengers over 13 years old is €22.00, for children from 4 to 12 years old — €10.00. For children under 4 years old — free.

You can buy tickets on the Hola Barcelona website — download them to your mobile device or print a copy. They are also sold on board the Barcelona Bus Turístic during the day.

During the excursion on the Barcelona Night Tour Bus, you will see the following attractions: Casa Batlló, La Pedrera, Sagrada Familia, Arc de Triomphe, Columbus Monument, Plaza de España, Torre Glòries skyscraper, Santa Creu i Sant Pau Hospital.

Also, for the convenience of city guests, from May 19 to September 15, the opening hours of shops located in zones 1 and 2 of the Special Plan for Tourist Accommodation (PEUAT) have been changed. They will be open from midday to 08:00 p.m., including Sundays and public holidays. This applies to the following areas:

  • Ciutat Vella (El Raval, El Gòtic, Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i La Ribera and La Barceloneta).
  • Eixample (Nova Esquerra de l’Eixample, l’Antiga Esquerra de l’Eixample, Dreta de l’Eixample, La Sagrada Família, Fort Pienc and Sant Antoni).
  • Sants-Montjuïc (Sants, Hostafrancs, and part of the Poble Sec and Font de la Guatlla neighborhoods).
  • Les Corts.
  • Sarrià-Sant Gervasi (Sant Gervasi-Galvany and part of El Putxet i el Farró).
  • Gràcia (Vila de Gràcia, La Salut, Camp d’en Grassot, Gràcia Nova and part of Vallcarca i els Penitents).
  • Horta-Guinardó (Baix Guinardó).
  • Sant Martí (Olympic Village of Poblenou, El Poblenou, Parc i la Llacuna del Poblenou and Diagonal Mar i el Front Marítim del Poblenou).

The capital of Catalonia has always been popular with travelers. Still, in 2024 there is an additional factor that is guaranteed to attract even more visitors to Barcelona — the 37th America’s Cup of Sailing will be held here. The regattas will begin on August 22 and will last until the end of October. But throughout the summer, special events are planned in Barcelona dedicated to this important cultural and sporting event. Follow our news to find out more about upcoming events.
