Digest of cultural events in Spain from 13 to 20 September

Where to go and what to see in Spain in the coming week? The Spain Voyages editorial team has prepared for you a digest of interesting tourist events that will take place in the Kingdom from 13 to 20 September.

Free stargazing at the Planetario de Madrid

Where: Madrid
When: 13 September from 9:00 pm to 12:00 pm

The Planetario de Madrid invites residents and visitors to Madrid for an unforgettable evening of astronomical observations. The event will take place on the esplanade in Parque Tierno Galván, next to the main entrance of the planetarium.
No pre-registration is required. Entry will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Free concerts on the terraces of the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza

Where: Madrid
When: 13, 14, 20, 21, 27 and 28 September from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm

A new series of concerts on the terraces of the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, called Desde las lindes, starts on 13 September. Performances by artists in a variety of styles: folk, jazz, R&B, electronica, pop, and flamenco.

You can find the full programme of concerts on the museum’s official website. Admission is free, until the seats are filled. No advance booking is required.

Concert at Sala Montjuïc

Where: Barcelona (Catalonia)
When: 13 September at 9:00 pm

The last concert of the season at Sala Montjuïc. Soul Party by Orchestral Soul Society and DJ Tormento. Tickets will cost you 15 euros if you buy online, 18 euros at the box office.

La Leyenda del Titanic immersive exhibition

Where: Madrid
When: 13 September to 31 October

Don’t miss the premiere of La Leyenda del Titanic, a unique immersive exhibition by Madrid Artes Digitales. Its visit will allow you to relive one of the most shocking events of the 20th century and feel part of this history. You will be able to see every corner of the Titanic, hear the last performance of the orchestra that played when the ship sank, and even explore the depths of the ocean.

Grito de México Festival

Where: Barcelona (Catalonia)
When: 14 and 15 September from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm

The Grito de México festival, dedicated to Mexican independence, will take place on 14 and 15 September at the Poble Espanyol Museum Park in Barcelona. Visitors will find 30 stands with traditional Mexican food and souvenirs. The festival programme includes performances by more than 100 musicians, mezcal and tequila tastings, and children’s activities.

The entrance ticket costs 8 euros. You can purchase it on the Poble Espanyol website.

First edition of Barcelona’s gastronomic festival Festí Fest

Where: Barcelona (Catalonia)
When: 14 and 15 September from 12:00 pm to 10:45 pm

The gastronomic festival Festí Fest will take place for the first time in Barcelona on 14 and 15 September. The venue is Antiga Fábrica de Estrella Damm. You will be able to enjoy dishes presented by 10 of Barcelona’s best restaurants. The programme also includes a visit to the Catalan produce market, presentations, seminars, wine tasting, a cookery show, and musical performances. There will be a special children’s zone for the youngest visitors.

Regular tickets cost 9 euros and the festival package costs 22 euros. You can find out more on the Festí Fest website.

Violin Concert at the Castillo de Gibralfaro

Where: Malaga (Andalusia)
When: 15 September at 9:00 pm

Enjoy exquisite classical music from the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra (Orquesta Filarmónica de Málaga) within the walls of one of the city’s most popular attractions, the Castillo de Gibralfaro. The first part of the performance will feature the Violin Concerto No. 1, Op. 6 by Niccolò Paganini. The second part will be dedicated to the suite Peer Gynt by Edvard Grieg.

A ticket for the event costs 15 euros. It can be purchased on the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra website.

The Grand Parade of Moors and Christians in Murcia

Where: Murcia
When: 14 September at 8:00 pm

The Gran Desfile Moros y Cristianos Murcia is one of the highlights of the Festival of Moors and Christians in Murcia. To witness this grand costumed procession, you need to purchase a ticket for €7. This can be done online at the event’s website.

Open Day at the Palacio de las Artes Reina Sofía

Where: Valencia
When: 15 September from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm

The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia will host the XVII Open Day on 15 September. This is a free event that is great for families. Its programme includes a tour of the building, educational workshops for children and adults, a symphony concert by the Valencian Community Orchestra, and lyrical concerts at Teatre Martín i Soler.

European Mobility Week in Valencia

Where: Valencia
When: 16 to 22 September

Valencia will take part in European Mobility Week. From 16 to 20 September, the City Council has planned lots of fun activities for children and adults. They will take place at the Mercado Municipal Nazaret de la Ciudad de Valencia, Mercado de Algiros, and Mercado del Cabanyal, as well as Plaza de Benimaclet, Plaza de Patraix, Plaza de Joaquín Muñoz Peirats, and Plaza de Segovia. The list of locations also includes green spaces like Parque Municipal de Orriols, Parque Central, and Parque del Oeste.

On 21 September, Marina de Valencia will host the Gran Fiesta in Pavilion 2 with musical performances, games, and workshops. And on 22 September, World Car Free Day, the city will be free to travel on EMT buses.

Antonio Banderas presents the musical Godspell at the Poliorama Theatre

Where: Barcelona (Catalonia)
When: 18 September to 13 October

The premiere of the musical Godspell in Barcelona will take place on 18 September at the Poliorama Theatre. The hippie musical, which tells the story of Jesus of Nazareth, is directed by the famous Emilio Aragon. The producer is the well-known actor Antonio Banderas. The production will be available to see until 13 October. Tickets cost from 20 euros.
