Starlite Occident

Starlite Occident, the largest boutique festival in the world, continues its concerts in Marbella. America’s Cup Experience

Where: Barcelona (Catalonia)

When: Monday through Sunday, 10:00 to 20:00

Sailing enthusiasts and America’s Cup fans should visit the interactive America’s Cup Experience. From August 22 to October 20, 2024, Barcelona will be the epicentre of the competition, in which six teams will compete for the Hundred Guineas Cup. But you can already immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the world’s oldest sailing race. You will enjoy:

  • a fascinating excursion into the history of the America’s Cup;
  • an exclusive production of “Hell’s Battle” on the largest screen in Spain;
  • a video of the most striking moments of the competition;
  • meeting the participating teams.

But the most interesting thing is the virtual reality simulator in IMAX format. Thanks to it, you will get the full range of sensations that athletes experience on board a yacht during the competition.

The exhibition is located in the IMAX building, in the heart of Port Vell, not far from the Barcelona Aquarium. Tickets start at 15 euros. Discounts are provided for students, people with disabilities, children under 11 and seniors.

Sorolla, una Nueva Dimensión

Where: Barcelona (Catalonia)

When: from February 9 to September 15

Don’t miss the opportunity to visit the Sorolla, una Nueva Dimensión exhibition. It is dedicated to the life and work of the great Valencian artist Joaquín Sorolla and is open at the Amatller Art Centre in Barcelona (Passeig de Gràcia 41). Paying homage to the greatest representative of Impressionism in Spain, the organisers aim to show the artist’s works from a different angle. They immerse the public in the heart of his art thanks to virtual reality, 360° projections and digital technology. The exhibition is open from 10:00 to 21:00, and guided tours are available in Spanish, Catalan and English. Tickets start at €9.50.

XXVIII Consuegra Medieval 2024

Where: Consuegra (Toledo, Castile-La Mancha)

When: from August 16 to 18

Every year in August, the city of Consuegra in Toledo returns to the 11th century for 3 days. Since 1997, the historical reconstruction of Consuegra Medieval has been held here. It recreates the battle between the troops of the Castilian-Leonese army of Alfonso VI of Castile and the troops of the Almoravids under the command of General Muhammad ben al-Hach. The battle took place on August 15, 1097 and ended with the defeat of the King of Castile. However, the Almoravids were unable to take the castle.

Guests of the festival will be able to fully experience the atmosphere of the Middle Ages. The program of the XXVIII Consuegra Medieval 2024 includes several historical shows that completely recreate the chronology of events. You can also visit the medieval market, take a theatrical tour of Consuegra Castle and watch the parade of armies in the bullring.

Lake in the Parc de la Creueta del Coll

Where: Barcelona (Catalonia)

The lake in the Parc de la Creueta del Coll is a great place to relax with children. The area of ​​the reservoir is 2100 m², and its depth is only 60 cm. On the shore there are changing rooms and a toilet, first aid and nursing services. The complex can accommodate up to 800 people. You can book tickets on the website of the Eixample Sports Association. The cost is from 1.13 euros. Children under 1 year old and senior citizens enter for free. 

Brunch and Art in the Thyssen Museum

Where: Madrid

When: Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 to 13:00

Complete your Thyssen-Bornemisza experience with brunch on the Italian terrace. After exploring one of the most impressive art collections in Europe, enjoy a meal on soft sofas in the fresh air. Fresh bread with tomatoes, homemade jam, honey or olive oil, yoghurts with different fillings, ripe fruits and orange juice will whet your appetite. For the main course, choose eggs with spinach, fried mushrooms, smoked salmon and Béarnaise sauce, focaccia with lacón, San Simon cheese, truffle cream and rocket, or a bun stuffed with beef, pickles, cheddar cheese and barbecue sauce. The price of the brunch is 49.50 euros.

Sanlúcar de Barrameda Horse Races 2024

Where: Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cadiz, Andalusia)

When: 14, 16, 17, 28, 29 and 30 August

Every year at the end of August, one of the oldest horse races in Europe, the Sanlúcar de Barrameda Horse Races, takes place on the beaches of Sanlúcar de Barrameda. Its history began in 1845 with competitions that fishmongers organized among themselves in order to get to the market faster. Now the races are considered one of the most interesting events on the southern beaches of Spain.

The races take place along Sanlúcar beach (Playa de La Calzada-Las Piletas) at low tide. Access to the public is free. However, you need to buy tickets to enter the finish area, where there are stands, a bar and betting shops. There are 3 to 5 races every day. ¡CREA TU PROPIA MENINA Y LLÉVATELA A CASA!

The Velázquez Tech Museum offers visitors a unique interactive experience. First, you will see the sculptures and projections of Velázquez’s famous Meninas on display. Then you can let your imagination run wild and draw your own Menina. After a special finishing, it will be delivered to your home. In addition, your work may be chosen to be displayed on the streets of Madrid during the autumn exhibition «Meninas Madrid Gallery». Fira de Xàtiva 2024 (Fira d’Agost)

Where: Xàtiva (Valencia)

When: August 15 to 20

In mid-August, Xàtiva hosts the oldest fair in the Valencian Community — Fira de Xàtiva or Fira d’Agost. It was first held in 1250 by special decree of King Jaime I. Now this festival is included in the list of festivals of national tourist interest.

For six days, several streets of Xàtiva are transformed into a huge market with many goods, attractions and entertainment. In 2024, the organizers have prepared an interesting and rich program. Guests of the fair will enjoy horse-pulling competitions, fireworks, musical performances, motorcycle races, a children’s theater program, the de la Cançó festival and several concerts. Sant Magí

Where: Tarragona (Catalonia)

In August, Tarragona celebrates the feast of the city’s patron saint, Sant Magí. The main theme of the event is water, which is why it is also called the «Water Festival of Tarragona». The main event of Sant Magí is la Revetlla Remullada in Plaça del Rei, when thousands of liters of river water are poured on spectators. In addition, the festival program includes many concerts, games for the whole family, exhibitions, excursions, master classes, tastings, grand parades of giant dolls and the famous human towers. Uber Eats launches delivery to 10 Spanish beaches

Taking advantage of peak summer demand, the popular Uber Eats app has launched an innovative delivery service to the beaches. The company has opened 10 new collection points along the coast of Spain to provide vacationers with an additional level of comfort. Now Uber Eats users can order not only groceries or ready-made meals, but also a variety of goods, including sunscreen. And you can get all this without leaving the beach. This was made possible thanks to the company’s cooperation with 17,000 restaurants and supermarkets in Spain.

Delivery can be ordered to 10 beaches in Spain:

  • Platja de Can Pere Antoni (Mallorca);
  • Platja Llevant (Benidorm);
  • Platja d’En Bossa (Ibiza);
