The most popular open-air cinema in Barcelona is the Sala Montjuïc, which is located in the Montjuïc Castle. Screenings take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The films start at 10:00 pm. But before that, from 8:15 pm, there is a live band on stage. You can buy a ticket on the cinema’s website for 8 euros (without a deckchair) or 11 euros (including a deckchair).

The Cinema Lliure a la Platja project holds free cinema screenings on the beaches of Catalonia — Platja de Sant Sebastià in Barcelona, Platja de la Fragata in Sitges, Platja de la Móra, Platja de l’Arrabassada, Platja de Llevant and Platja de Ponent in the province of Tarragona, Platja de Sant Esteve La Fosca in Platja Gran de Tossa de Mar in the province of Girona. Access is free and no seat reservation is required. The start of the session, depending on the time of sunset, varies from 21:30 to 22:00. Details are on the project’s website.

In Madrid, up to and including 28 July, CinePlaza summer film screenings are scheduled at the Matadero Madrid cultural and entertainment complex. The screenings will take place from Thursday to Sunday. They will start at 22:15. Tickets are available at the Matadero box office on cinema days from 19:00 to 21:45 or can be purchased online at cinetecamadrid.com.

Another summer cinema in Madrid is the Cibeles de Cine at the Galería de Cristal. Screenings will be held until 31 July, every day. Screenings start at 10:00 pm.
