Digest of tourist events in Spain from 5 to 12 July

1.Free buses to Lake Albufera

Where: Valencia

When: 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 22, 23 and 24 July 2024

As part of the planning for the Great Fair of Valencia, free buses are being launched to Lake Albufera, located in a nature reserve 10 km from the city. Flights are scheduled from Monday to Wednesday throughout July.  The trip also includes a boat ride. Those wishing to ride must register on the Valencia City Council website.

2.Barcelona Rock Fest

When: July 5 to July 7, 2024

Where: Barcelona (Catalonia)

The festival will bring together the brightest stars of rock, hard rock and metal on a big stage in Park de Can Zam in the north of the city. This year, Blind Guardian, Gamma Ray, Hatebreed, KK’s Priest, Wolfmother, as well as other famous performers and groups will ignite the audience.

3.Medieval fair in Valencia

When: July 4 to July 7, 2024

Where: Valencia

As part of the Arranca la Gran Feria, a group of Moors and Christians from Valencia organizes a Medieval Fair on Cabanyal Beach. Vendors will offer guests unique handicrafts as well as traditional Arabic dishes. The program of the four-day event includes master classes, dances, musical performances, shows, animations and parades. And the main event will be the traditional performance of “Moors and Christians,” symbolizing the fusion of two different cultures.  

4.Summer Fun Fair in Turia Gardens

When: June 22-August 4

Where: Valencia

The summer fun fair returns to the Turia Gardens in Valencia. Until August 4, adults and children will enjoy many more fun events — lotteries, games and competitions. And the highlight of the program will be amazing attractions, including the popular bumper cars and a huge Viking ship. Anyone who gets hungry and wants a snack is welcome at the food stalls. The fair operates on section IX of the old riverbed of the Turia River (between the Flores Bridge and the Exhibition Bridge).

5.Viveros concerts 2024

When: from July 2 to July 23

Where: Valencia

One of the main musical events of the Great July Fair in Valencia will once again gather stars in the Viveros Gardens. This year’s Conciertos de Viveros program includes 18 concerts featuring 25 artists. It will cover a wide range of musical genres — from rock and pop to rap and flamenco.

6.XXVII Valencia Jazz Festival

When: June 20 to July 28, 2024

Where: Valencia

The rhythms of jazz fill the streets of Valencia. The XXVII Festival de Jazz de València continues in the city. Famous performers and groups give concerts on several stages. From July 6 to 12, performances are scheduled by the Lírica Big Band, the CSMV Jazz Orchestra, the Summer Trio of Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Andrea Motis and Camerata Papageno, the Valencian Orchestra, and the RTVE Orchestra and Choir. Tickets cost from 10 to 20 euros, and some concerts can be attended for free. 

7.Nights at the Palace of Güell (Noches en el Palau Güell)

When: July 11, 18 and 25, 8:30 p.m. — 10:45 p.m.

Where: Barcelona (Catalonia)   

Every Thursday evening in July you will have the unique opportunity to take a quick tour of Palais Güell. You will get acquainted with the stunning creation of Gaudí, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The architect built the palace by order of his friend, the industrialist Eusebi Güell. Thanks to Gaudí’s innovative approach to space and light, the use of noble materials, as well as the stunning work of masters of decorative finishing, the building has become a true work of architectural art. Visitors will be able to climb to the roof, which offers excellent views of the city. After the tour, enjoy a light dinner and live music concert. 8.Puro Latino Fest

When: July 12 and 13

Where: Almeria (Andalusia)

The famous Latin festival will visit Almeria for the first time this summer. Over the course of two days, world-famous artists and young talents will perform at the City Fair concert venue. On the opening day of Puro Latino Almería 2024, the audience will be lit by Anuel AA, El Alfa, Jhayco, Manuel Turiso, Yandel, Omar Montes, José De Las Heras.  Scheduled to perform on July 13 are MAKA, Morada, RVFV, JC Reyes, Dei V, Yovngchimi and Vilu Gontero.

9.Reopening of the El Mirador observation deck on the Torre de Collserola tower

When: from 3 July

Where: Barcelona (Catalonia)

Barcelona’s highest observation deck is reopening after being closed during the coronavirus pandemic. El Mirador is located on the 10th level of the Torre de Collserola tower at a height of 115 metres. From here you can enjoy beautiful panoramic views of Barcelona and its surroundings. In good weather, visibility is up to 70 kilometres and allows you to admire Montserrat Mountain and the Cadi Moixero mountain range. The cost to visit the observation deck is €5.60. For people with disabilities – 3.10 euros. The ticket can be purchased directly at the tower. It can also be done online on the website of the Tibidabo amusement park, which organises the visit to the attraction. There you will also find the timetable for the observation deck.

10.Fashion exhibition Under the influence of Gaudi

When: until September 29

Where: Barcelona (Catalonia)

In June, an unusual fashion show was held at Montjuic Castle. Designer Manuel Fernandez and 19 artists representing all the communities and two autonomous cities of Spain created dresses inspired by the work of Antoni Gaudi. Unique outfits were presented to the public within the walls of the historical fortress. The show took place in absolute silence — guests could listen to the music accompanying the models’ appearance only through headphones. Until September 29, everyone will be able to see these stunning dresses at the exhibition Under the Influence of Gaudi, which takes place at Montjuïc Castle.
