El Quexigal Palace will become a luxury hotel of the Six Senses brand

IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the launch of an exciting new project in Spain. The 16th century El Quexigal estate in Cebreros (Avila province) will be transformed into an exclusive luxury hotel under the management of the Six Senses brand. The palace, built by renowned architect Juan de Herrera, was one of the favorite vacation destinations of King Philip II and the Spanish nobility. The new Six Senses Quexigal resort will harmoniously combine historical heritage and modern comforts, offering guests a unique time-travel experience.

The hotel is expected to open by the end of 2026. There will be a total of 60 rooms, including 13 suites, a presidential suite with a private garden and a separate five-bedroom villa for families and special events. It will also offer several gastronomic areas: a restaurant, a themed bar, private lounges and a grill by the pool. Local organic food will be served throughout.

Guests will be able to spend a pleasant time in a modern spa center with treatment rooms, swimming pools and steam baths. Emotional and spiritual well-being programs will be emphasized.

The palace is being reconstructed by Arvo Arquitectura, a studio known for its approach to preserving architectural heritage. The interior design is being developed by Rafael Navo. According to his plan, historical elements, such as ancient vessels for wine and oil, will become part of the decor, and outbuildings will be restored to recreate the atmosphere of the royal residence.

Six Senses has always been famous for its philosophy of ecological development, and this project will be no exception. The hotel will use the maximum amount of original materials, and suppliers will be local manufacturers. Guests will be able to visit the « Earth Lab» where they will learn about nature conservation and environmental practices.
