Fast-track security checks introduced at Spanish airports

The Spanish state-owned company Aena, which operates the country’s main airports, said it was introducing accelerated security screening protocols. Thanks to new X-ray 3D scanners for luggage, passengers will no longer need to place liquid containers and electronic devices in trays at checkpoints.

First high-tech equipment will appear at the airports of Barajas (Madrid) and Barcelona – El Prat (Barcelona), which account for 40% of passenger traffic in Spain. By the end of 2024, 3D scanners will be installed at Palma de Mallorca and other airports. This will significantly speed up the inspection procedure.
