Festival Jordi Savall will be held for the fourth time in Tarragona from August 12 to 18. This is one of the most famous festivals of early music in Europe. It was founded by the famous Spanish gambist, conductor and entrepreneur Jordi Savall. The goal of the event is to revive and popularize the historical, cultural and musical heritage of Catalonia.
The stages of Festival Jordi Savall feature musical works from different eras — from the Middle Ages and Baroque to the present day. Its main participants are the groups led by Maestro Savall — Hespèrion XXI, La Capella Reial de Catalunya, Le Concert des Nations and Orpheus 21. Groups and performers from all over the world are also invited to participate in the festival. In 2024, the guests of the event will be the Ekiyat ensemble (Tatarstan), Ensemble Irini (France), as well as musicians from Canada, Guadeloupe, Guinea, Mali, Brazil, Cuba, Haiti and Venezuela.
The concerts of the Festival Jordi Savall are held in the iconic monasteries of the Cistercian Way — Convento de San Francisco (Mont Blanc), Real Monasterio de Santa María de Poblet (Poblet) and Real Monasterio de Santes Creus (Santes Creus).
You can see the program and buy tickets for the concerts on the Festival Jordi Savall website. To ensure that visitors can comfortably reach the monasteries, buses are available from Barcelona, Tarragona, Reus and Vilafranca del Penedès. The fare is 5 euros. It is recommended to book tickets immediately on the website.
