Take part in the Verano Joven 2024 program

Verano Joven 2024 is a program for young people aged 18 to 30 that offers great discounts on bus and train travel throughout Spain and Europe. Interrail and Avant passengers can count on a 50% discount. Traveling on regular government buses and medium-distance railway lines — 90%. And those who prefer high-speed trains Renfe, Ouigo and Iryo can save up to 30 euros on each ticket. The Spanish government is allocating 130 million euros to implement the program. 

Verano Joven 2024 runs from July 1 to September 30 of this year. All young people living in the country legally, regardless of their citizenship, can participate in it. To receive a promotional code for a discount, you need to register on the website of the Spanish Ministry of Transport. The corresponding section will be available on the portal from June 15. This must be done at least 24 hours before purchasing your first ticket.

Take advantage of special discounts from OUIGO for people who fail their driving test

If you haven’t passed your driving test before traveling around Spain by car, don’t despair. High-speed train operator OUIGO offers you a tempting alternative. Until June 17, 2024, you can purchase return tickets with a 10-euro discount on trains in all directions. The promotion applies to trips from July 30 to September 3, 2024, excluding Fridays, Sundays and August 14, 2024. 

To receive a discount code you need:

1. Go to OUIGO’s Instagram profile.
2. Tell us about your experience in the comments on this post.
3. Share the video on your stories with the hashtag #AprobadoEnOUIGO.

After this, the OUIGO team will send you a discount code in a private message on Instagram. You can use it to purchase tickets through the OUIGO Spain website or app.

Use Interrail discount passes, which operate in 33 European countries

If you are a citizen or legal resident of a European country, you can purchase Interrail passes, which work on all state railway trains in each member country. Many private railways also accept them and provide discounts.

If you are under 28 years old, purchase a youth pass and receive a 25% discount on standard prices. Passengers aged 60 years and older can count on a 10% discount.
