LGBTIQ+ Pride in Madrid: the main events of MADO 2024

From 28 June to 7 July, the Spanish capital will host the grand LGBTIQ+ Pride — MADO 2024. Its celebration in Madrid attracts around two million participants every year and is the largest in Europe.

In 2009 and 2010, MADO won MTV’s TripOut Gay Travel Awards as the best gay event in the world.

The main locations of MADO 2024 will be Plaza de Pedro Zerolo, Plaza del Rey, Puerta del Sol and Plaza de España. And of course, a lot of fun awaits the city’s guests in the epicentre of Madrid’s LGBTIQ+ culture, the Chueca neighbourhood.

Traditionally, the festival programme is very rich. More than 50 events are planned for 2024: demonstrations, parades, concerts, parties, debates, competitions, forums, drag shows, theatre performances, exhibitions and much more. You can find a full list of them, as well as their times and locations, on the official MADO (Madrid Orgullo) website. And we will tell you about the most important events that you should definitely visit:

On 28 June, International Pride Day, there will be celebrations and events in the establishments of the Chueca neighbourhood.
On 30 June, Plaza de Pedro Zerolo will host a «Feathers and Paws» event against animal cruelty at Plaza de Pedro Zerolo 19:00. Come with your pets and participate in a photo-call, charity fair and pet parade.
On 3 July at 20:00 at Plaza de Pedro Zerolo, the official opening of Madrid Pride 2024 will take place. It will begin with a Proclamation presented by the famous La Plexy. Welcome speeches will also be given by the organisers of the Pride: representatives of AEGAL, COGAM and FELGTBI+.
On 4 July at 18:00, the traditional Heel Race will take place on Calle Pelayo. According to the rules, the participants of the race must wear shoes with heels up to 15 centimetres high. And those who finish in the top three will receive a substantial cash prize.
From 4 July to 7 July from 20:00 at the main locations of MADO 2024 will be held concerts with Nebulossa, Merche, Barei, Megara, Esteman, Sharonne, Juriji Der Klee, Vyperr, La Grande Dame and other stars. Also on the programme are rousing parties.
On 5 July, the offices of the European Parliament and the European Commission in Spain will host the Madrid Summit 2024 — LGTBIQA+ International Conference on Human Rights from 09:30 to 18:00.
On 5 July, the Plaza del Rey will host the final and gala concert of the Mr. Gay Spain competition.
On 6 July, at 19:00, the main event of MADO 2024 will be the LGBTIQ+ State Pride Demonstration. Its motto in 2024 is «Education, rights and peace: pride that changes». It will start from Atocha, next to the Botanical Gardens, travelling along Plaza de Cibeles and Paseo de Recoletos and finishing at Plaza de Colón. And after the demonstration, it will be time for a grand parade with colourful floats.
On 7 July, the final day of LGBTIQ+ Pride in Madrid, from 19:00 at Plaza del Rey and from 20:00 at Plaza de España there will be concerts, shows and other events to celebrate the closing of MADO 2024.
