Madrid ranks as one of the most accessible cities for travelers with disabilities

Madrid is among the ten most accessible European capitals for people with disabilities. According to a report by UK travel agency Iglu Cruise, 25% of disabled travelers regularly have difficulty finding suitable hotels, restaurants and activities. At the same time, among tourists who do not have health problems, only 10% experience difficulties when planning trips.

With this in mind, Iglu Cruise analyzed information from Yelp and Tripadvisor to find the most accessible travel destinations in Europe for people with disabilities. The agency collected data on hotels, restaurants, entertainment venues and attractions in every European capital. The selected locations were ranked from the most accessible to the least accessible for people with disabilities.

In the ranking of the most affordable European capitals, Madrid took ninth place. It is noted that the city is well adapted for travelers with disabilities. Its streets, as well as more than 50% of its metro stations, are wheelchair-friendly. Tourists with disabilities can easily visit many popular attractions, such as the Prado National Museum or Buen Retiro Park.

The top three among European capitals are London, Paris and Amsterdam, and Rome closes the top ten. Iglu Cruise commercial director Dave Mills noted that although many European cities have become more friendly to people with disabilities, there is still a lot of work to be done to make travel truly accessible for them.
