Noite dos Calacús will take place in Pontevedra from 26 October to 3 November under the patronage of the City Council. Demetrio Gómez, member of the Council for Culture and Festivals, said in this regard, ‘What lies ahead is not a night of fear, but a week of fear. Starting this weekend, we begin the Samhain programme. We are reclaiming the tradition of our grandparents and on the 31st we are going to have the Animas Procession.’
The festivities will begin with Ghosts and Souls Disguise Workshop and tours of the Santo Amaro Cemetery for family and adult audiences.
And the festival will culminate on 31 October. Festival attendees are invited to the fair, where there will be food and drink stalls. Numerous masterclasses on make-up, costumes, cookery, carving and more are planned here (pre-registration is required). The event will be accompanied by ambient music. At 21:00 there will be a ‘Procession of Souls’ through the historic centre with the Pontevedra Municipal Theatre.
