Olympics 2024 — awards and results of the Spanish national team

The Summer Olympic Games in Paris continue. As of August 6, the Spanish national team already has 9 medals — 1 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze. We will briefly tell you about the successes of the athletes and the important competitions that await them next.

Judoist Francisco Garrigos managed to win his first award at the 2024 Olympics. On July 27, in a fight among men up to 60 kg, he defeated his opponent from Georgia Georgi Sardalashvili and received bronze.

On August 1, track and field athlete Maria Perez took second place in the women’s 20 km race walk and won a silver medal. She was 25 seconds ahead of Chinese athlete Yang Jiayu, who took first place. Bronze went to Australian athlete Jemima Montag.

The 20 km race walk medal competition was also successful for Spanish athlete Martin Alvaro, who won a bronze medal. First place in this competition was won by Ecuadorian athlete Bryan Pintado, and second by Brazilian Caio Bonfim.

Also on August 1, the final competition in men’s single canoe slalom was held. Basque athlete Pau Echanis managed to take third place and win bronze. Gold went to Italian Giovanni de Gennaro, and silver was awarded to French canonist Titouan Castric. The first gold medal for Spain was won by yachtsmen Diego Botin and Florian Trittel. In the final competition in men’s skiff sailing, which took place on August 2, they showed the best result and took first place. Silver was received by athletes from New Zealand, and bronze went to the United States.

In the semi-finals of the boxing competition on August 4, Spaniard Enmanuel Reyes Pla received a bronze medal. He failed to advance to the final, losing on points to Azerbaijani Loren Berto.

On August 4, Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz met in the final match with Serbian Novak Djokovic, who beat Rafael Nadal on July 29. This time, luck also smiled on Djokovic. He defeated Alcaraz in two sets with a score of 7:6 and won the gold medal. Carlos Alcaraz brought silver to Spain.

Tennis players Kristina Bucha and Sara Sorribes Tormo won the bronze medal in women’s doubles. On August 4, at the Roland Garros stadium, they beat Karolina Muchova and Linda Noskova from the Czech Republic with a score of 6:2, 6:2.

On August 5, in the final match of the women’s 3 x 3 basketball tournament, the teams of Germany and Spain met. The German athletes won with a score of 17:16 and received gold, and the Spanish basketball players added another silver medal to their list of achievements. Bronze went to the United States, who beat Canada in the consolation final.

On the evening of August 5, the semi-final of the football tournament took place. The Spanish Olympic team defeated Morocco and became the first finalist of the 2024 Olympics. In the final scheduled for August 9, the Spanish team will face the French, who beat Egypt 3-1 on August 6.

The Spanish men’s field hockey team lost 2-3 to Belgium in the quarterfinals on August 4. And on August 6, the Spanish team lost 0:4 to the Netherlands in the semifinals. Now the Redsticks are looking forward to the bronze medal match on August 8.

The Spanish women’s field hockey team has said goodbye to the Olympic Games. On August 5, the RedSticks lost 2-0 to Belgium in the quarterfinals and were eliminated from the competition.
