On April 28, the Zurich Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series Madrid marathon will be held in the capital of Spain

On April 28, the capital of Spain is ready to celebrate for the 46th time the largest festival of popular athletics in the country — the Zurich Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series Madrid Marathon.  About 40,000 runners from more than 110 countries take part each year, and hundreds of thousands of spectators line the route.

The Madrid Marathon is part of the world’s largest marathon and half marathon circuit, the Zurich Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series.  Its distinctive feature is that the race routes are laid along the most picturesque streets of cities, where street stages are installed and live performances of rock bands take place, as well as near the most popular tourist attractions.  In Madrid, more than 30 entertainment spots await participants and spectators, and at the finish line there will be a real festival.

The Zurich Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series Madrid includes 3 different distances: marathon (42 kilometers), half marathon (21 kilometers) and a 10 kilometer race.  They start from the same point — Plaza de Gregorio Marañón, but at different times and along different routes.  The 10-kilometer race starts at 08:00 a.m, marathon and half-marathon start at 09:00 a.m.

The Madrid Marathon was first held in 1978.  It is one of the largest and most important running events in Spain and is awarded the IAAF Road Race Gold Label.

Anyone aged 18 years and older can become a participant in this sports festival and qualify for awards and cash prizes.  To do this, you need to register on the official race website.  You can also see all the marathon routes there.  They allow you to admire the most beautiful locations and attractions of Madrid: the main street of the city Paseo de la Castellana, the famous Plaza de España, the National Library of Spain, the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, the Royal Palace, the Cuatro Torres business center and others.
