On August 30, the Battle of the Flowers will be held in Laredo

On the last Friday of August in Laredo (Cantabria) will be held the traditional Battle of Flowers (Batalla de flores de Laredo). On August 30 at 5:30 p.m., thousands of spectators will gather along the Alameda de Miramar to admire a stunning parade of floats and have fun at the fair. 

Batalla de flores has been held in the city since 1908 as part of the Semana Grande Laredo festival. In 2024, the Batalla de flores celebrates its 113th anniversary, so 13 platforms will take part in the procession. Each of them will be decorated with tens of thousands of colorful velvets, dahlias, daisies, carnations and other flowers. In total, more than one and a half million buds will be used for decoration. 

Flowers for Batalla de flores are grown in the fields around Laredo. Three days before the holiday they are brought to the city. And decorated platforms on the eve of the parade to keep the flowers fresh.

After the parade, the jury will choose the best platform Batalla de flores de Laredo 2024. But the fun doesn’t end there. At 22:00 on the Alameda de Miramar there will be a concert by CHENOA. And exactly at midnight on the beach Salvé will start a grandiose fireworks display. O NDA FUTURA MACRODISCO SHOW in the park Los Tres Pescadores will finish the holiday.
