Real Madrid and Manchester City played the first leg of the 2024 Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday 9 April. It took place at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid and ended with a score of 3:3.
Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva opened the scoring in the 2nd minute, successfully converting a free kick. But just 12 minutes later, Real Madrid took the lead — midfielder Eduardo Camavinga and striker Rodrigo scored goals. Moreover, the first hit was practically an own goal, because the ball ricocheted off the central defender of the English club Ruben Dias.
In the 66th minute, City midfielder Phil Foden equalized the score, scoring a beautiful goal from 25 meters. His teammate Joshko Guardiol strengthened his bid for victory by hitting the opponent’s goal in the 71st minute of the match. But after 8 minutes Federico Valverde, the Los Blancos midfielder, set the final score on the scoreboard — 3:3.
After such a strong and intense game, fans look forward to the return match, which will take place in Manchester at the Etihad Stadium on April 17.
