Renfe enters the battle for passengers and reduces prices to 7 euros
Spain’s state-owned rail network Renfe has taken up the challenge from Ouigo to offer its passengers favourable fares on the popular Avlo budget tourist destinations. This promotion is timed to coincide with the launch of 10 new S106 high-speed trains from manufacturer Talgo, which will take place on 21 May 2024. Already today, you can buy a ticket for just €7 to travel between 21 May and 21 July on the routes:
- Madrid — Valencia;
- Madrid — Zaragoza — Barcelona;
- Alicante — Madrid;
- Murcia — Valladolid;
- Valladolid — Alicante;
- Madrid — Murcia.
A total of 70,000 tickets will go on sale at the promotional price. The ticket price for children under 14 years of age will remain fixed at €5. Large families can get a 20% to 50% discount on fares.
The acquisition of 10 new train models will increase the capacity of Avlo’s main routes by 28 per cent, from 49,530 to 63,940 weekly seats. Each S106 train has 12 carriages with a total of 507 to 581 seats, depending on the layout. Passengers have comfortable 2+2 or 3+2 seats, individual touch screens, comfortable tables and a cafeteria. Renfe plans to purchase a further 20 S106 trains to significantly renew its transport fleet.
