Spain took 6th place at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest
The 22nd edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest ended in Madrid. The main triumphant of the contest was the performer from Georgia Andria Putkaradze. He conquered the audience with the song «To My Mom», which brought him the coveted crystal microphone. His performance, combining stunning vocals and impressive staging with visual and dance elements, was unanimously supported by both the jury and the audience. This victory was the fourth for Georgia in the history of Junior Eurovision, reinforcing its status as the most successful country in the contest.
Second place went to the representative of Portugal Victoria Nicole with the song «Esperança», which scored 213 points. This result was the best for Portugal in the history of Junior Eurovision. The third place was awarded to the young Ukrainian performer Artem Kotenko with the song «HEAR ME NOW», which scored 203 points.
The representative of Spain Chloe DelaRosa took the sixth place. She received 144 points: 64 from the audience and 80 from the jury. The young singer delighted the audience with the song « Como La Lola». The composition is dedicated to the legendary artist Lola Flores and her unforgettable hit «Cómo me las maravillaría yo». It is also a reference to Maria Isabel’s song «Antes muerta que sencilla», which won Spain the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2004. The song, written by Luis Ramiro, Alejandro Martinez, David Parejo and Chloe herself, moved the audience and emphasized Spain’s musical traditions.
The show was hosted by Ruth Lorenzo, who represented Spain at Eurovision 2014, actor Marc Clotet and Junior Eurovision 2019 participant Melanie Garcia. A surprise for the audience was the appearance of Maria Isabel, the 2004 winner, who opened the show alongside former contestants Zoé Closur from France and Sandra Valero from Spain.
It cost Spain more than four million euros to organize the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. This year’s event emphasized social media and digital technology to connect with the younger generation.
