Spain win the UEFA Women’s Nations League final
The Spanish national football team, led by Montse Tomé, defeated the French team with a score of 2-0 and won the Women’s Nations League tournament, held for the first time in history. Ballon d’Or winners Aitana Bonmati and Mariona Caldentey scored against France in front of 32,000 fans at La Cartuja Stadium in Seville, southern Spain. Thus, the team once again proved its dominance in world football after winning the Women’s World Cup in 2023.
Spain’s place in the final also earned the team a spot in the women’s Olympic soccer tournament in Paris in 2024. France automatically qualifies as a host for these competitions.
Germany won the final Olympic berth from the Women’s Nations League after beating the Netherlands 2-0 in the third-place play-off.
