Spain’s national football team defeats Uzbekistan at the 2024 Olympic Games in France
On the first day of the 2024 Olympic Games, 24 July, the Spanish men’s football team beat Uzbekistan 2-1. The match took place at the Parc des Princes stadium in Paris.
Despite the fact that the official opening ceremony will be held on 26 July, some disciplines started two days earlier. This is due to the optimal time to restore the physical condition of athletes. A minimum of three days should pass between the matches of one national team. In addition, the schedule is designed so that the finals of the group competitions will take place before the Olympics close on 11 August.
A few weeks ago, the Spanish proved their top level of play by winning the Euro 2024 final. So it was no surprise that they dominated the pitch this time too. Spain U-21 national team player Marc Pubil opened the scoring in the 29th minute. In the third added minute of the first half, the Uzbeks got back. The author of the goal was Eldor Shomurodov.
Everything was decided in the 62nd minute, when Uzbekistan’s goal was struck by a ball launched by Sergio Gomez, a newcomer to the Real Sociedad team.
The national team’s next match will be against the Dominican Republic on 27 July, followed by Egypt on 30 July.
