Swimming pool season opens in Madrid on May 15

The Madrid City Council has announced the opening of the swimming pool season. It will begin on Wednesday, May 15 — the Day of St. Isidore, who is considered the patron saint of the city. On this date, the pools will be free to visit.

20 outdoor swimming pools and 8 in sports centres of the capital will resume their work after the winter break. The swimming season will last until September 8. In 2024, Madrid’s swimming pools will be able to accommodate 20% more visitors than in the past. But for those who want to swim, certain restrictions will apply. Bandwidth will be allocated dynamically, so each guest will only be allowed one entry and one exit per day.

The pools will operate in three shifts. The morning shift will run from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, the evening shift will run from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and the full day shift will run from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm. Those who pay for the full day can enter and exit the pool area without restriction using an identification device.

An adult ticket will cost €4.50 for the whole day and €2.25 for half a day. Children from 5 to 14 years old can visit the pool for €2.70 and €1.35 respectively, and young people 15–26 years old for €3.60 and €1.80. For children under 5 years old —  admission is free.

Tickets can be purchased at the pool ticket office. But it is better to buy them in advance in the sports section on the Madrid City Hall website or through its mobile application.
