From September 12 to 15, the capital of Spain will host Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend. This annual event has been held since 2009 and marks the opening of the exhibition season in galleries. Its organizer is the Association of Contemporary Art Galleries of Madrid (Arte Madrid).
As part of this weekend, cultural events are held in different areas of Madrid: Lavapieza, Barrio de las Letras, Las Salesas, Chamberí, Salamanca, and others. Everyone can visit exhibitions for free and tour galleries, museums, and art centers. Some events are held in the open air. All this aims to develop contemporary art and introduce it to the general public.
Some events within the Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend run until the end of September. You can see the full program on the official website. For your convenience, you can also download the free Arte Madrid mobile application, available for Android and iOS.
