His Majesty King Philip VI of Spain came to support the national team during the game at the Feltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen (Germany). And for good reason! According to the results of two rounds of the group stage of Euro-2024, the Spanish national team earned 6 points and took first place in Group B, guaranteeing themselves a play-off. However, on 24 June, Luis de la Fuente’s team still has to face Albanians in the last round of the group stage.
After the match, Philip VI visited the national team’s dressing room to congratulate the players and members of the coaching staff on their victory and to chat with them. The mise-en-scene, in which the king facepalmed with surprise upon learning that the national team’s youngest player, Lamine Yamal, is only 16 years old, has already viralised all over social media worldwide.
Lamine Yamal is a 16-year-old prodigy, a midfielder for FC Barcelona. He became the youngest participant in the European Football Championship in history.
Captain Alvaro Morata presented His Majesty the King with a Spain national team shirt with the number 10 and the name Felipe VI on the back. «The King is a talisman! Together with him, we will win the Euros!» — immediately reacted the fans.
