On August 25, La Cordà de Paterna, one of Valencia’s loudest and most spectacular festivals, will take place in Paterna. It is the final stage of the Fiestas Mayores de Paterna, a series of the city’s main festivals that began on August 15. La Cordà de Paterna has been declared a site of intangible cultural significance and has become the only festival of national tourist interest related to pyrotechnics.
La Cordà de Paterna is a grand pyrotechnic show. It is traditionally held on the last Sunday of August on Calle Mayor. There is a special space for pyrotechnicians — Cohetódromo de Paterna, which provides complete safety for both performers and spectators.
At exactly 1:30, the shooters will start launching 70,000 rockets. For 20 minutes, they will light up the city sky, creating a true festival of fire, light and noise. Thanks to it, the Valencian Parliament awarded Paterna the title of «City of Fire» — Ciutat del foc.
