The Port of Barcelona is holding its first open days

The Port of Barcelona is holding its first open days on 24, 25 and 26 May 2024. The event is timed to coincide with the European Day of the Sea and aims to publicise the port’s activities.

«We want to continue bringing the Port closer to the general public, which is why we are very excited to be holding our first Open Days. It will be a unique opportunity for everyone to get to know the Port up-close and learn about its great contribution to the daily life of the city and its surroundings», announced Port President Lluís Salvadó.

The programme for visitors will be very extensive. You can find out more about it and book tickets for the events you are interested in on the official website of the port. Most of the planned events are free, except for those that require transport. But even these will cost symbolically only 1 euro.

The Open Days will be organised under the motto Explore the Port in three directions:

  1. Discover the Port includes bus tours departing from Portal de la Pau, from La Marina de Port neighbourhood and from El Prat de Llobregat, as well as boat tours on board the Golondrines pleasure boat and historical walking tours.
  2. The Get to know the Port will be implemented through the innovative Ágora Port Information and Outreach Centre. Here, visitors will be able to learn all about the port’s activities and its importance for the city, and learn about logistics processes and maritime history. Talks, presentations, workshops, musical performances, masterclasses and entertainment for children are planned.
  3. The Live the Port strand includes a visit to the seafood market and tasting of local specialities in Port Vell, photo-calls for selfies and other activities.

The open days will also be attended by 15 organisations whose activities are linked to the work of the Port of Barcelona. We advise you to be sure to attend such evens:

  • The exhibition of historic boats, held by the Barcelona Maritime Museum, in the waters of the port. Its opening hours are from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm on 24 and 26 May, and from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on 25 May.
  • The themed events of the Museum of the History of Catalonia, scheduled for 25 May from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm and 26 May from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm. On Sunday at 12:00, there will be a tour of the museum’s permanent exhibition. Participation requires advance booking.
  • Walks along a themed route about the relationship between the sea and Barcelona, organised by the association Amics de la Rambla. They will take place on 24 May at 6:00 pm and 25 May at 11:00 am and 6:00 pm. Book a place for yourself on the association’s website.
  • An amazing experience in the new interactive space Aqua Protectors at the Barcelona Aquarium. On 24, 25 and 26 May, children under 10 years old will be able to visit the aquarium for free when accompanied by an adult who has purchased a ticket.
  • Promotions and entertainment from the Maremàgnum shopping centre at Barcelona Port Vell. On 25 and 26 May, there will be live jazz performances in the afternoons. Shoppers will also receive gift cards.
