Valdemorillo Medieval Market 2024: artisans, treats and entertainment
From 28 to 30 June, just 40 kilometres from Madrid, the Valdemorillo 2024 Medieval Market will take place. It will only take you an hour to get here from the Spanish capital. And it’s a great option for family holidays and fun with friends.
The market, which will take place on Avenida de Segovia, will open on Friday 28 June at 6:00 pm. For this celebration, Valldemorillo will be transformed into a real time machine that will take you back to the Middle Ages. All participants will be dressed in historical costumes. There will be 60 stalls with handicrafts such as handmade soaps and creams, silver jewellery, wood-carved toys, leather goods, as well as sausages, cured meats and other gastronomic delights. Don’t miss the street food carts and be sure to stop by the festively decorated taverns to enjoy the best of Madrid’s community food.
The market will be accompanied by an extensive entertainment programme – musical numbers performed by bagpipes and drums, parades and processions, jugglers and acrobats on stilts. For children, there will be a ferris wheel and swings, as well as a children’s corner with games.
Get ready for a real historical adventure accompanied by fantastic characters – goblins, elves, hunchbacks, pilgrims, jesters, Troupete de Luisete and many others. Children and adults alike will be absolutely delighted by this three-day interactive show. And the highlight of Mercado Medieval de Valdemorillo will be the farewell parade, which will start on Sunday, 30 June, at 9:45 pm.
Medieval Valdemorillo is part of the Imperial Route of the Community of Madrid, which follows the route of King Philip II during his visits to the monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial in the 16th century.
