Tripadvisor ranks Spain’s La Concha Beach among the top three in the world
The popular online service for travelers Tripadvisor announced the nominees for the Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best 2024 in the “Best Beaches in the World” category. The top three included La Concha Beach, located on the shore of the bay of the same name in the Spanish city of Donostia-San Sebastian. Experts have called it an iconic holiday destination, noting the clean water and stunning panoramic views.
La Concha is one of the most beautiful and popular city beaches in Spain and throughout Europe. Its name translates from Spanish as “shell”. This is exactly the shape of the picturesque bay, above which the Urgul and Igueldo mountains rise.
La Concha Beach is the most photographed beach in the Basque Country. Here you can swim and sunbathe and engage in various sports — surfing, kayaking, windsurfing, beach soccer. There are several water attractions for children. The mountains that surround the beach protect it from the wind. There are no high waves in the bay, so it is safe to relax here even with small children.
First place in the Tripadvisor ranking was taken by Falesia Beach, located in Portugal, and second place by Spiaggia dei Conigli, located in Italy. In addition to them, the top ten beaches included Kaanapali (Hawaii), Grace Bay (Turks and Caicos), Anse Lazio (Seychelles), Manly Beach (Australia), Eagle Beach (Aruba), Siesta Beach (USA) and Varadero (Cuba).
